Activities
These activities highlight the meaning of biodiversity in a local context. Each presents a different strategy to reveal the complexity and wonder of the biological world.
It's important for young people to develop a respect for and delight in their natural environment. We hope you and your students enjoy the experience.
The activities are designed for teachers of upper primary and lower secondary students (aged from 10–14 years). Please adapt them to meet the specific needs of your students.
Three kinds of activities are offered:
- Those that set the context and introduce the skills of scientific observation.
- Those that record specific kinds of biological data. Your students can practise recording data in an online activity.
- Those that analyse and reflect on the findings to elicit a pattern or principle.
Let the enthusiasm and delight of your students guide your choice of one, several or all of the activities.
