Habitat fragmentation and degradation
Humans continually encroach on the natural habitats of many species, as more and more land is taken over for housing, farming, mining or cattle grazing. This forces the species that live there into smaller and smaller areas, containing fewer resources. Competition for food, shelter and mates is increased. Without taking the appropriate steps to conserve habitats, the chance of particular species becoming extinct is increased.
Increasingly, many companies that use our natural resources are becoming more proactive in their efforts to conserve the environment. N. F. Douglas is a timber company in Canada with a commitment to sustainable forestry.
